Mr. Vetro’s Life Signs Monitor

Mr. Vetro’s life signs are monitored in a display such as the one shown below. Some of the life signs displayed are the parameters that are set on the client simulations, whereas others are computed.

1. Mr. Vetro’s heart rate in beats per minute. Value set as a parameter on the heart client simulation.
2. Oxygen saturation in Mr. Vetro’s blood. Value computed as a function of the parameters of the heart and lung.
3. Mr. Vetro’s breathing rate in breaths per minute. Value set as a parameter on the lungs client simulation.
4. Exercise intensity that Mr. Vetro is subjected to in kilometers per hour. Value set as a parameter on the brain client simulation.
5. Oxygen needed in Mr. Vetro’s muscles. Value computed as a function of the parameters of the heart, lung, and brain
6. Oxygen delivered to Mr. Vetro’s muscles. Value computed as a function of the parameters of the heart and lung.
7. Partial pressure of carbon dioxide in Mr. Vetro’s blood. Value computed as a function of the parameters of the heart and lung.
